Kolam, also known as Muggu in Telugu, Tarai Alangaram in Tamil is a form of traditional decorative art that is drawn by using rice flour powder. Sometimes also drawn using white stone powder or chalk powder. Its origin are rooted mostly in southern part of India

Kolams or muggulu are thought to bring prosperity to homes. Most traditional household especially during festivals draw kolams in front of their home entrance at the break of dawn
