Diwali, one of India’s most celebrated festivals, is marked by family gatherings, feasts, prayers, and for many, lively what they call ‘taash nights’. The tradition of playing cards is rooted in folklore, said to have begun with Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and is also linked to Goddess Lakshmi. It is believed that playing cards on Diwali night pleases her and brings prosperity and good fortune in the year ahead.

The background has deliberately been left unpainted, allowing the wood grain to show and give each coaster a contemporary twist.

These will be conversation starters and will make for the perfect Indian gift for Diwali or decor for your game room.
