Product Description

Set of 3 - Medium Chettinad Handwoven Palm Leaf Baskets

Kottan is a type of basket woven from palm leaves in the Chettinad region of Tamil Nadu

The leaves are first dried in the sun, leaflets then are separated from the stalk with the central veins removed using a needle. They are then soaked in water to soften them and cut according to the required sizes. Organic dyes are used to color the leaves. The palm strips are handwoven woven into a riot of colors and intricate patterns. The rims are lined with multiple layers for increased strength and the corners are threaded to hold them in place

These baskets are multi functional, use them for storage or use them as table décor purposes or to give away gifts in.
