8-inch hand-made clay figurine inspired by the famous 'celestial dancer' sandstone sculpture. Available in three colour options.

The original life-sized 'celestial dancer' is housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art ('The Met') in New York, and is thought to have been created in Madhya Pradesh in the 11th century.

The raw aesthetic of terracotta lends itself beautifully to mirroring the carved deities that Indian historical architecture is famous for. Use this little sculpture as a small celebration of our rich heritage in the intimacy of your home.

Being hand made, this product is unique in itself, and its tiny imperfections are what make it special.

Traditional Terracotta Firing Process

Traditional kilns are essentially shallow pits filled with charcoal. For firing, products are placed very closely together in the pit and covered with a layer of broken pottery fragments for insulation. The process of firing usually lasts around three hours.

Traditional terracotta is not as strong or durable as modern ceramic because it is fired at a much lower temperature. Please place this product so that it is safe from damage.
