Product Description

A set of two 5.5-inch hand-made clay aala niches made to hold diyas (oil lamps). 

These decorative terracotta aalas have been inspired by the practice in traditional homes of always having a light burning in a niche by the entrance. 

These little frames will add a great aesthetic to any corner of your home, including your sit outs or spaces with lots of greens.

You could use an LED light in your aalas if you're concerned about the smoke from a traditional oil diya staining your wall.

Traditional Terracotta Firing Process

Traditional kilns are essentially shallow pits filled with charcoal. For firing, products are placed very closely together in the pit and covered with a layer of broken pottery fragments for insulation. The process of firing usually lasts around three hours.

Traditional terracotta is not as strong or durable as modern ceramic because it is fired at a much lower temperature. Please place this product so that it is safe from damage.
