This has been hand-painted & inspired from a photograph by N.V. Abbayeradjou (c.1890-1902) of the devdasis perhaps from Madras. 

The unique treatment of  turning the entire frame into a canvas and allowing the artwork flow on to the edge of the frame makes it a extremely striking.
