Product Description
18" Dancing Woman Tholu Bommalata Shadow Puppet.
This product is flat and translucent, allowing light to shine through and make the colours glow. It is painted on both sides, and can be placed facing either direction.
Tholu bommalata roughly translates to 'dance of the leather puppets', and is a centuries-old form of shadow puppet theatre from the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Tholu bommalata puppeteers mainly reenact stories from the Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata, and usually perform through the night.
Being hand painted, this product is unique in itself, and its tiny imperfections are what make it special.
Please note: The actual colors may vary based on the screen resolution of your device. As per our experience, viewing the products on the desktop is usually more true to the actual colors.
How to Display
A great way to display this product would be by framing it between two acrylic or glass sheets and placing it in front of a light source (like a window or lamp). This will make its bold lines and vibrant colours come to life.
