Bankura, in West Bengal, is renowned for its terracotta crafts, particularly the "Bankura Horse," a distinctive handsome horse made in Panchmura village, known for its erect & elegant stance and unique tribal design.

The clay figures after being sculpted are then allowed to dry in the sun. After a little drying in the sun, holes are made on some parts of the body for the sculpture to dry. The drying process is usually then done in closed room for a week. Finally, they are fired in a traditional kiln for five hours under the controlled heat by burning wood and dry leaves.
