Bankura district in West Bengal is known for its terracotta crafts. The 'Bankura Horse' is a distinctive horse figurine made in Panchmura village, known for its erect and elegant stance and unique tribal design.
Traditionally used in folk rituals, Bankura terracotta crafts are now sought after as decorative products.

Traditional Terracotta Firing Process
Traditional kilns are essentially shallow pits filled with charcoal. For firing, products are placed very closely together in the pit and covered with a layer of broken pottery fragments for insulation. The process of firing usually lasts around three hours.
Traditional terracotta is not as strong or durable as modern ceramic because it is fired at a much lower temperature. Please place this product so that it is safe from damage.
