12.5" Soof hand-embroidered Framed Art 

Literally translating  Soof means ‘neat and clean’, this style of embroidery is characterized by geometric patterns. Its v-shaped designs called ‘leher’ or wave and triangle patterns are highly stylised. The embroidery is often mistaken for machine work because it is so neat and perfectly arranged.

This style is known to be done by the women of the Sodha community. The interesting apect of the technique is that the embroidery is actually done from the reverse side, carefully created counting the warp and weft threads that are used as the base grid. 

Soof embroidery motifs is found on blouses, ghagras, bukanis worn by men over a turban, home decor like torans to adorn the doorways.
