22" Hand Carved Wooden - Gomira Wall Decor - Banam Sarangi

The gomira artisans would make Sarangi back in the day - since there is no market for these products in thier community we have decided to bring them back as wall decor collectors item 

Music and dance are an integral part of their life and culture, connecting to fertility and harvest. Of all their musical instruments, the dhodro banam is one of the most spectacular creations, in terms of design which heavily aided by the art and skill of sculpting.

Popularly known for their Gomira masks -  traditionally made by villagers of North Dinajpur. There are around 200 artisans and their families who continue this tradition. Gomira masks started out as a way of devotion to the God, wearing these masks & dancing – a performance by villagers to please the gods to usher in the ‘good forces’ and ward off the ‘evil forces.’ 

These have finally found a market as a décor product for those who embrace these crafts.

We plan to create some new designs with this craft and the craftsmen and present some of their traditional designs as well as a part of this range
